Love Is In The Air - Cheap Flights For Weekend Breaks

August 18th, 2008

Valentines Day may be behind us for another year, but who says you can’t still have a romantic break abroad whenever you feel like it? A holiday doesn’t have to be a week long affair; it’s perfectly possible to get a short break in another country if you fly there.
The obvious choice is Europe: it’s the closest to us and there are plenty of romantic settings for a short break.
Paris is probably the first place people think of when planning a romantic short break; known as the most romantic city in the world, Paris is the embodiment of culture combined with a cuisine guaranteed to get your romantic break off to a good start! Flights and package breaks are reasonably cheap, and a better option for a short break as driving will eat into your holiday.
Amsterdam is always a favourite short break destination; combining beautiful scenery, olde-worlde charm and a bustling market district, it’s great for just getting away from everyday life for a little while. It even caters for those travelling on a romantic break on their own…
If traditional old-fashioned romance is your thing, consider Venice. Few things conjure up thoughts of love than being guided down the many canals and waterways of Venice in a gondola, fingers trailing dreamily in the water while your significant other reads from a book of poetry…Or maybe a nice candlelit meal in one of Venice’s many restaurants, being serenaded in the seductive Italian language is more to your taste; whatever it is, Venice will have it. You can get cheap flights to Venice from all major UK airports, and accommodation is very reasonably priced.
If you wish to go further afield, it is possible to get cheap flights to places like New York and Las Vegas. While not typical romantic destinations, Vegas is a good place for those spontaneous proposals and to try and win money to pay for the ring. New York is a bustling metropolis which is great for the more urban couples who can’t imagine wasting a whole day snuggling in bed.
Whatever your ideal break, look on the internet for last minute deals. You can have a great short holiday at a fraction of the cost!
